They Made Masks Mandatory- But Are They Good for You and Do They Even Work?

Bane from Batman, way ahead of his time, but likely still impressed by today’s governmental overreach

It already seems like years ago when governments and stores made it mandatory for customers to wear a mask when doing their shopping, supposedly with the idea that they were going to prevent the transmission of the coronavirus spreading around the globe.

But new research shows not only that masks are ineffective and have a minimal effect on curbing the Covid 19 outbreak, but wearing a mask for a healthy person can actually have negative health effects, especially if you have COPD.

This video shows how most common masks do nothing to stop the aerosol spread of water droplets and other airborne particulates.

In fact, all the new trendy fabric masks being displayed in clothing retailers may be a poor attempt at fashion, since they really accomplish nothing.

Canada to Make Masks Mandatory in All Commercial Establishments

That’s right, even though only the N95 provides any sort of defense against spreading germs, Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health Medical Officer of Health Dr. Nicola Mercer has issued an order under the Health Protection and Promotion Act that requires anyone going into any commercial establishment must wear a face covering.

And if you don’t wear a mask or your employee doesn’t? A fine of $5,000 Canadian Dollars.

The policy varies from country to country, and city to city.

Online Search Reveals Inconsistency of Opinion Among Actual Medical Doctors and Professionals Over Policy of Forced Mask-Wearing

Infectious disease expert Amesh A. Adalja, MD, senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security in Maryland, told Health: “Someone wearing an N95 mask for a prolonged period of time may have alterations in their blood chemistry that could lead to changes in level of consciousness if severe, but it’s most likely to happen to those who are already predisposed to breathing difficulties, such as smoker, obese people, or individuals with COPD or emphysema.

In direct contrast, Neil Schachter, Professor of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital says, “I definitely recommend using a face mask for everyone in these times, especially for people with asthma and COPD. We need to protect those at risk, in particular those with fragile airways.”

More Mask Complications Show They May Do More Harm Than Good

Another aspect people forget about masks is that they can actually become breeding grounds for germs as people only usually have one mask and often they either forget to or simply don’t wash it, leading to a buildup of warm saliva and CO2 in the mask itself- the perfect petri dish for virus incubation.

Also, people who wear masks may get undue confidence that they are safe from viruses, germs and bacteria so may become complacent.

Finally, the Department of Medicine at the National University Hospital, Singapore reported that people who wore the N95 mask for long periods of times developed headaches, and that increased carbon dioxide can be harmful for your health. I’m sure that can’t be good for your immune system if it’s needed to fight off a virus at the same time.

All of this information comes out around the same time that doctors and researchers are discovering that Covid 19 patients placed on ventilators have a relatively higher mortality rate than those who aren’t, and this has a bearing on other applications of breathing apparatuses like CPAP for sleep apnea and snoring, pneumonia and coronavirus.

What Ever Happened to You Making Your Own Decisions About Your Health?

It cannot be overstated. Your body will often tell you by how you feel, what is good for you and what isn’t. And just as Dr. Steven Katz would say: “A healthy lifestyle is the best defense against coronavirus.”

I’m reminded of the final exercise in US Navy boot camp where we run around obstacle courses and do drills for an entire 24-hour day starting around midnight after you’d already been up for a full day.

During one of the drills we were made to wear a protective gas mask, but we still had to physically exert ourselves. It was so difficult for me to breathe, I caught myself cheating and pulling my mask to the side a little here and there to get some fresh air.

My point is not that this is what anyone else should do, especially during a CBR Chemical-Biological-Radiation attack, but what it does show is just how hard it is for you to function normally, under stress, or under prolonged periods of distress- wearing a mask.

If God did not create us with masks to wear when we step outside, then why in the heck should we decide after thousands of years that they are required for life in 2020?

How did we ever get this far without masks?

I’ll let the historians and the “experts” answer that one.
